"lasko ceramic heater" 2010-07-17

Quiet and efficient. It takes little space and keeps the back of my toy hauler cozy. I'd buy another should I need more heat.

This is my 2nd Lasko 5367 after trying several lower cost space heaters that all broke. My first one held up for 3 & 1/2 years in near constant 'on-high' and just gave out earlier in this year.

The size is great, reaching close enough to the floor to keep your feet warm. The oscillating button on top w/ the controls make adjusting the temperature easy to reach.

The fan feature is great for cooling down a room and takes about a minute to feel the cooler temp if you've been running it on the heating settings.
Easily warms up a small to med size chilly room very quickly and is very quiet.

I would suggest using this product with a grounding outlet on a different fuse from any high power electronic because it packs a lot of power for its size.

There are ventilation slots on the back that are easy to clean but, I don't recommend using it in a bathroom, unless you remove it before running a shower to protect it from steam.

Obviously, you should keep children and pets away from it, but at the same time, it's a rather no-worry, very solid and extremely difficult to tip over product with a heat overload protection built in.

I just got my new one and if it holds up like my 1st, I can't think of a thing that makes this product not worth the price, especially w/a 3-yr manufacturer's warranty.

"Great Heater!" 2010-06-13
By pilates girl
This little heater is powerful. I use it to heat a 400 square foot renovated garage and it does the trick. I highly recommend it!

The reason for only 4 stars is that I've only had it a few weeks. At this point I don't know how long it will last and it's replacing one of another brand that died after about 4 years of minimal use.

Have this unit in a 11x 7 bathroom. I know it says not to use it in bathroom, its in far corner away from water source and on GFI outlet. This little sucker heats up fast and throws a very nice heat on a 4 setting on a 1-10 scale. If need to, it turns also (oscillates). For price its a no brainer in heating smaller spaces. Hope it holds up.

"Generates a lot of heat for it's size and footprint" 2010-05-19
By A. Altman (San Carlos, California United States)
Small footprint, good looking, not too tall, and generous heat for its size. It seems to generate a lot more heat than the Honeywell model 7200 that I tried, even that the latter is wider. Anyway, I am pleased with this unit. Please note that it is a modest size unit and you probably want something bigger for a large room, or several of these.

"Great Heater - Worth the price" 2010-06-16
By E. Huelsmeier (Sedona, AZ USA)
We needed a heater that could heat a single room instead of having to run our central heating for just one room. After researching the infrared(IF), 'soft heat' type heaters, like those shown in the Eden-Pure commercials, we tried two. While neither was an Eden-Pure, they were the same technology. One purchased from Sears($300) heated OK but the fan was very noisy so we returned it. The 2nd was a CZ(Comfort Zone) top-of-the-line unit($450) from Earthwise that kept cycling on and off during both the warm-up period & during temperature maintenance, and after getting the run around from their customer service about getting a replacement, even though it was a known problem, we just returned it within the 30-day return period(and still had to pay $40 for return shipping). Then a friend turned me on to the Vornado.

After researching the Vornado online, we bought one from Amazon(best price!) and couldn't be more satisfied. The heater does what it's supposed to do and it does it well. It's air circulation design heats the room quickly(better than the IF heaters) and the thermostat maintains the temp nicely. With the exception of a slight fan noise, it performed every bit as well, if not better, than the much more expensive IF units, plus it's much smaller & lighter. And for just over $80, it was a bargain compared to the others we tried(it almost makes up for the return shipping on the IF unit!).

We definitely recommend this heater!

"Better fan and circulation than older model" 2010-05-28
By G. Balmes (Washington)
I have an older Vornado ( model EH1-0015 INTELLITEMP) which has to be at least 10 years old. After dragging it out of storage, I noticed than inside the fan, all the workings inside had become caked with dust and grime. Though the unit still worked fine, I decided to retire it for safety reasons.

I wanted to stick with the Vornado brand and did some research here on Amazon and finally decided on the AVH2 model. Actually it is very similar to my old unit in that on top, there is a manual setting on the dial of the temperature you wish to keep the room at 65-90 (see my customer pic)a High-Low Heat, and High-Auto Fan. So it appears that this , the AVH2 is just a second or third generation of my older unit.

I noticed that this model has a more powerful fan than my older unit and the heating element, thought does not glow red, puts out more heat too.

It's now the end of May and have not used this heater other to test the functions (I purchased this on an online auction site) I will offer any updates when colder weather comes but of what I have just noticed on a general inspection, this heater is much improved over it's older sipling.

"Works Great!" 2010-03-15

This heater works great in my old drafty house! It really circulates the air and is very quiet!

"I love this heater!" 2010-03-11
By Topaz Fire
This small space heater is very efficient and quiet. The plastic grill never overheats and so is safe to the touch. Also, the room gets nice and toasty without being hot and dry. I've had mine for a while now and although it may seem pricey, it's worth the price. I really do love my heater! :)

"SOLD! - with many doubts at first waiting to see how long it last" 2010-03-10
By C. Tucker (Texas)
My home office space continues to be colder then remainder of the house. Needed something that would keep the warm air moving, quiet, safe and efficient. I have tried several forced air space heaters (and definitely some of those digital crap shoots) with an additional small fan to keep the air moving. After "blowing" through several space heaters and fans (fan motor in each always first to go) I was looking for a better alternative (safety first and overall comfort with added efficiency) - Found Vornado!

* Blows a constant warm temperature without being too hot
* Slows down automatically at the right time to still keep the gentle comfort of warm air
* It does simply what is stated, you get rid of the constant cycle of HOT to cold and keeps a good warm air circulation
* Easy controls with no guess work
* Quiet (does not come across in conference calls on High and barely can hear on low)
* Does perfect for my needs so far - At this time seems well worth extra cost in efficiency, safety and comfort
* Cannot comment on overall longevity or long term reliability, if does not live up to the extra cost I will update my post.

I do not mind saying, if paying extra for quality product then so be it, MADE IN USA - all the better... it is not every day I can find both, I really hope I will not be let down.

"Small and Lightweight" 2010-09-12
By Jesse B Bartholomew (Cedar Falls, Iowa)
I was half expecting this heater to be larger and heavier than it is. However, I was surprised with how light it is even with two 1 pound tanks attached. The fan is a nice feature but it has only one setting, and to me its a little slow. Note the fan blows air out the top not through the burners themselves. If you want to power your fan from an outlet you will need to buy and adaptor. The heater itself is great on the output. If you run it on low (medium if your pushing it) the 1 pound tanks should be fine. However if you run it on high, I would recommend a 20 pound tank. It will burn through a one pounder very quickly, and cost you a bundle unless you refill them. On Low and Medium the left heating element operates. On high the right element turns on.

Now on to hoses. If your going to attach the heater to a tank larger than the one pounders, and many people do, you will need to use a rubber hose. You have a few choices at this point. First buy a rubber hose with a filter, second buy a hose with a regulator, or third buy a green hose. The first choice is by far the most common. You attach the hose to the fuel tank then to the filter and finally the filter to the heater, in that order. The traditional rubber hoses produce an oily substance when under pressure that can gum up the heater. Hence the filter is needed to catch that stuff. Remember to replace your filter annually, especially if you use the heater a lot. The second uses a regulator that is attached to the tank then to the hose and finally the hose to the heater, in this case via the quick connect on the left side. Because a regulator is used, the hose is not subject to the pressures that option one is and wont produce the oily substance, hence no filter. The final one is the newest, the green hose. It so new I really can't give insight into it. From what it is described the hose is made without the chemicals that produce the oily substance in option one. This however causes it to be a lot stiffer than the traditional hoses, especially in colder weather. This option does not need a filter or regulator to use.

Will try to post pictures of the heater when able.

DO NOT BUY MR HEATER PRODUCTS..I BOUGHT THE PROCOM MD100TBA HEATER ON LINE AT ACE HARDWARE FOR $132.95. FREE SHIPPING. IT HAS A THERMOSTAT AND TURNS ON AND OFF. WORKS A LOT BETTER THAN THE BIG BUDDY. MUCH BETTER PRODUCT THAN THE BUDDY HEATERS !!

The best and most effecient heater that I've ever used. The added little feature of having a blower fan really adds a nice overall touch to the heater. I borrowed the smaller version from a friend and decided to go with the larger unit. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone!!

"Big Buddy" 2010-03-08
By Joe Burns (TN USA)
Great little heater! This thing puts out a lot of heat. I bought it for a backup when the power goes out but I've been using it a lot just to knock the chill off. I keep the heat pump set pretty low which is fine when I'm up moving about but when I sit down to read or watch tv it is a little cool. I fire this thing up for a little while to warm the room and I don't have to turn the heat pump up and heat up the whole house. I also bought one for my cabin.

"dimplex stove" 2010-09-23
By carol
A really cute little, stove with realistic flames. It can quickly put out some heat. This was my second dimplex purchase bought to heat the upstairs of my house which does not have heat. I will be buying one more dimplex product to heat the third and final room. I have looked at other brands, and dimplex is by far the most realistic looking, and provides heat!

"It's Amazing" 2010-09-20
By MartyytraM (yourtown hi)
The other comments don't exaggerate. Beautiful, and realistic flames. I've never seen anything quite like it.

The heat will surely heat a large room -- it's barely fall here, so little chance to really test it out. But, while testing, I can feel heat across a fairly large room, maybe (trying to trig it) .. maybe 18 or 19 feet? And I feel it on my ankles, not blowing all over the place where it will do little good.

What else. OH! The heat itself IS hot. Ok, how hot? I was pricing "hearth" material to put under it, to make it more realistic. Well, granite is really expensive! :) But, while pricing out polished granite-like plastics, I ran into the temperature max, so I put a digital meat thermometer under it. Within maybe a minute, I couldn't hold it, and it was at 180 degrees, and climbing. It puts out nice heat.

It's just a great little .. thing .. a wood stove-like, fireplace-like, heater that's really nice.

[Edit] Oh, I forgot: I'll have to disagree with the other comments about the smaller / cheaper model being better. Cheaper is always nice, but that one has no thermostat. So, unless you're going to run this model wide-open anyway, save yourself some big change on the electric bill, and go with a thermostat. It's quick responding too.

"An Excellent Heater For The Price" 2010-09-13
By Nathan Hannold
I live on the basement floor of my home and needless to say it can get quite cold during the Fall and Winter months of the year. I have been looking around for a suitable product that fit my needs, when I finally stumbled upon this product while on Amazon. It seemed almost instinct to buy the Dimplex CS3311 as soon as the product appeared on the page, the stove had quite a unique charm to it, unlike many generic white heaters I see being peddled around, and the multitude of positive reviews took any uncertainty I had out of this purchase. When the heater arrived via UPS about 5 days later I was thrilled to find out that it was pre-assembled and that it was virtually ready right out of the box.

*PROS*
+ Warmer than most run of the mill heaters.
+ Much cheaper than I expected
+8 cents per hour with heat
+3 cents per hour with just flame
+ The flame looks quite lifelike in all lighting situations except in direct sunlight
+ It can heat up a 300sq ft area in a little over 2 hours
+ The casing is made of metal, not plastic
+ It is light enough for most people to move easily
+ Remote control

*CONS*
- Makes a strange noise when the fan kicks on when turned on, but goes away in a couple of seconds
- May be too small than some would like

Overall I am very pleased with this heater and I would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting an electric heater.

"It's like a hologram of a real fire" 2010-08-20
By John Parsons (SF Bay Area)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RVZ9KG0SUSR4F This little stove is simply amazing. So real. No fan blowing on orange cloth here. I opened it up to see how they do it. Simplicity defined... They have a shiny rotating spiked wheel below that reflects the colored light up onto a mirrored glass plate inside the firebox. This gives the illusion of a real fire.

The heater is as rated and works almost silently except for the fan which is very quiet. You can sleep with this in your bedroom. The neat part is you can walk up to the stove to warm yourself as you would a real one. Your legs and feet get direct heat, as from a real stove.

Top quaility construction. Although light, it's solid and not flimsy at all. I'd bet you could sit on it but I personally won't try that.
Two things that knocked a point off in my mind. Well, one for the point and another improvement suggestion...

1) The roating motor creates a very slight, almost inperceptable hum. As any electric motor would. It's only noticable in a completely quiet setting and not obnoxious at all. I'd imagine a rubber mounting might solve this. It's definitely not a reason put off a buy decision.

2) Making that motor variable speed would be a huge plus. Having the ability to change the "flame intensity" is nice to have. The fixed speed is a little "slower" than the real thing.

I'm so looking forward to Thanksgiving weekend at the beach this year. We'll be the envy of the RV crowd with a realistic fireplace in our motorhome.

"Realistic!!" 2010-04-25
By T. Deangelis
I am very impressed. It is so realistic. It shows sparks being thrown off; really! it is fabulous. Psychologically, it is relaxing too. I ordered it with the free shipping and it came 2 days, which is amazing because I am in remote location in Alaska. The item shipped from Pennsylvania. I did read the warrenty info, and it was interesting to note this item has no warranty in Hawaii, Alaska, and the provinces of Northern Canada. I bought this model because of the reviews being mostly good. The cheaper model had many bad reviews.

I am pretty happy about this purchase, but only time will tell. I am concerned about the durablity of the product. I will update this review as time goes forward.

"Great office heater!" 2010-09-17
By pamFL
Although I live in sunny, warm Florida my office is always cold from the a/c. Therefore, I just needed a small heater for under my desk and this has done the job. I've had it for 2 months now and it is going strong. The reviews on this page helped tremendously when deciding which one to get, there are so many!

It is worth of its price. really pumps out of lot of heat.....but the fan only mode is simply useless.....as you won't feel any airblow even if you are staning in front of this.....but heat mode is simply awesome.......the thermostat is not as much accurate as a digital one...but it does what it meant for......for winter use....its simply awesome as per its price tag...i am happy with it.

The DeLonghi DCH 1030 is an excellent space heater. It is small but packs a lot of heat. We purchased it for our audio room which is about 20x20 and it gets the room warm quickly. It is lightweight and easy to move from room to room. The controls are not well marked and it is nosier than I would have liked but is is a good value for the money.

"Great for my unconventional use." 2010-09-02
By AL
I recently build a terrarium that houses live plants and day geckos into a basement wall. The back of the cage sticks into a closet that can get fairly cold. I use the thermostat on this heater to make sure the ambient temp in the closet never dips below 75. So far it's worked as advertising and mounting it to the wall was moronically easy.

"Works Great! Very Happy!" 2010-08-31
By Fitness Girl (NY, NY)
The title says it all. This is a little powerhouse of heat that I use in my office. I read reviews about the thermometer not working, but mine works great. The only annoying thing is that when you want to change the temp to a lower setting you have to keep pressing through all the setting to get back to the one you want. Overall, very happy and works great!

This is a nice heater for my small bathroom. It has the ALCI plug for safety. However, the instruction manual says not to use in a bathroom or laundry room. There is a more expensive heater with a clock and a timer that is called a bathroom heater. I can't see what the difference would be as long as it has the safety plug. (I have no need for a heater with a clock and a timer.) I would buy it again, I have to have a heater in the bathroom.

"Works Great!" 2010-03-15
By Lisa (Philadelphia)

"A lot of heat for a little power" 2010-09-13
By sallylea
At the low setting of only 400 watts, this heater produces a lot of heat! I am in the bottom unit of a very old building (built around 1900), so it is freeeezing! This heater has really helped! I keep it under my desk at my home office and it keeps me working. Before, I purchased a couple of energy-efficient 400 watt wall-mounted heaters (for over $80 each), but those take far too long to heat up (by the time the room is warm, I'm ready to leave). This affordable ($30) Optimus heater gives you instant gratification and plenty of heat. I haven't even used it at the 800 watt setting yet. I think I might buy another one or two for the other rooms of my house.

"bad" 2010-09-09
By h.m
It broke down in less than 5 months.
I used it almost every single day.
Sometimes it was too hot, and it takes time to heat up.

By Ana Carolina Rojas (Miami, FL USA)
I live in Miami, I am a woman in my 30s. Our office is freezing everyday! It is not nice to work with a thermostat on the 50s and 60s that can't be changed. This product is great if you are looking for a heater for your office or desk. Its powerful and most important, silent. That was my main concern because I did not want to bother my coworkers.

It does look like a toaster or a roaster(I didn't receive the white one but brownish greenish...) but I don't care because its under my desk.
Good price too! I hope it lasts or I'll be mad.

"Here's why this heater is great" 2010-07-11
By Matthew Frith (Torrance, Ca United States)
I waited a year before I decided to make a review on this heater and so far it is still going strong. This is a great heater especially when you are using it at work. First off, it's a low power heater so it allows you to use 800 or 400 watts. This allows you to use it at work without worrying about blowing a fuse and making a complete ass out of yourself. Most heaters (even the small ones), will run at about 1500 watts and will easily shut down a circuit. Second, it gives off great heat. I've was hard pressed to find any amount of heat that this heater has given vs the heaters that use double the power. With the reflective background pushing the heat forward, you can easily feel it at about 8 feet away. This heater heats up my office in a place where everyone wants the air conditioning blasting, but I've had times where the co-workers were complaining that the heater was heating up the office too much. So, I'm giving this heater 5 stars because I've only have had good luck with it. I wish the same for anyone else that buys this heater.

"great for the money" 2010-07-04
By J. L. Wions
This is my second Optimus. I bought it for two reasons. One is that it is a great little heater that heats up a small area in a hurry with low energy consumption, and it never has to shut down to cool off as fan models do. The other reason is that my first Optimus developed a mysterious short after about six months of constant use (about 16 hours/day), causing its performance to be unreliable. For the price, I decided it would be easier to buy another one than to test customer service, and be without it for a while (for health reasons, I require the heat almost constantly). So, now I have two, and am happy with both (when they are both working).

Amazon.com Review

Banish the chills this winter with the energy-efficient Safe Heat Oil-Filled Radiator from industry leader, DeLonghi. Solo, the quiet radiator serves as an alternative heat source in small and medium rooms. The 110-volt radiator also complements a central heating system, bringing warmth to high-use areas while the main system runs on low for more cost-effective heating. The radiator construction features rustproof metal for even heat distribution and resilience with pure diathermic oil completely sealed inside. Heat radiates through several vertical thermal tunnels while keeping the hot elements enclosed and out of the reach of fingers and other body parts and objects. Three power settings allow flexibility for diverse rooms and personal heating needs. For energy efficiency, the heater runs low at 600 watts or medium at 900 watts to slowly spread warmth. On high at 1500 watts, the radiator brings full heat to the room with extra speed. Users direct the room's temperature for comfort with an adjustable thermostat. With a 24-hour programmable timer, the heater offers 96 options in terms of temperature, wattage, duration, and activation time. An antifreeze function engages should the indoor temperature fall below 44 degrees F, while the heater also automatically shuts off upon knock-over or overheating. Four wheels enable easy transportation from one room to another. The power cord wraps around for storage. DeLonghi advises against placing the radiator too close to power outlet, outdoors, or near flammables. Avoid running the power line under carpets. Thorough safety guidelines and assembly instructions are included. The radiator weighs 23 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

"Delonghi space heater for guest bedroom" 2010-08-23
By Walter C. Hobbs (Thiensville, WI, US)
This was a very good purchase in regard both [a] to the product itself (it works well in the way that the published description says it should work) and [b] in the delivery process -- right on time on the day promised.

"Really, really nice." 2010-07-12
By Kawakami
All in all, I'm very happy with this item.

Pros:

Very consistent heat (not a lot of ups and downs)

Heat seems to rise more out of the top then out of the sides. My other one just gets hot all around which makes it harder to place in a room and more dangerous for kids.

Cons:

No digital thermostat.

"So far so good" 2010-04-23
By Fruit Bat (Colonial Beach, VA United States)
The winter of 09-10 killed the heat pump compressor that heated and cooled my upstairs (two large open rooms). Because of its age, I had to either replace the whole system (air handler, too), or take a chance on replacing just the compressor with hope nothing else major fails. I decided on the latter and bought the Delonghi for auxiliary heat. My plan is to run the repaired heat pump as little as possible in winter and use it primarily for cooling in summer. Since it was the end of winter, the Delonghi didn't get a full workout, but it worked far better than I'd anticipated. I'm still trying to find the best settings, but I think it's going to do the job. I was very concerned about leaving it on 24-7, but after checking the outlet and cord (many times!) for heat buildup, I relaxed and let it do its thing. Since I didn't use it for a full season, I withheld a star. I may need another one to satisfactorily heat the entire space for a full season, but wouldn't hesitate buying the same unit. It's clean, quiet, takes up little space -- and it works.

"So far so good" 2010-04-15
By Brick Wall (Drunken State University [Intoxious Continious])
So far this has been a good unit. I use it to keep my plumbing in my RV from freezing in the winter. I have left my RV unattended with this set to "Anti Freeze" for about a month now and all is well. It hasn't burned the place down yet. We'll see what next season holds.

"Defective product" 2010-04-06
By Stephen Graumlich (st petersburg, fl usa)
We have owned many of these heaters over the years, using them in apartments we owned. We did not hesitate to buy another.

However, the one we received is defective and we will begin its return immediately. The very first week we began using it, it started leaking oil. We have never had this in any of the other units we have owned.

We will be returning for an exchange immediately. I am eager to see how smoothly this goes. My first communication will be with my credit card company, advising them of the need to return this purchase.

"Tippy" 2010-08-20
By J-Pen (WV)
Thermostat is acurate, unlike other heaters we've tried. But the tall slim desighn isn't very stable. We have it on an old wood floor that's slightly warped but when the heaters on "fan rotation mode" it tends to wobble and tip over eventually. Aside from that heats a 10 X 10 foot room from 55 to 65 in about an hour. And maintains the temp well through the night. It's also quite!

"Lasko no heater" 2010-08-13
By N. Gallagher (San Francisco, CA United States)
Heater did not work right out of the box. Blew air but no heat. Not sure why people have said it's so quiet. My old Vornado was much quieter. So I returned the non functioning heater and ordered the Vornado and am very pleased with it!

Props to Amazon for making the return and refund fast and easy! Wish other businesses functioned this well!!

"The best heater!" 2010-06-16
By Sara Mckerrihan (Lake Tahoe, CA)
I really love this heater. I have had it now for a few months. It is for my bedroom and I was worried about sound. It has been very quiet, the fan is quiet and the oscillation doesn't make any noise at all. The settings work very well, the remote is a great thing because you don't have to get out of bed to turn it off. The timer is also very helpful because this way you don't accidentally leave it on. It is also energy efficient. It is really light weight but stable. It has a great handle so it is really easy to move. Also, it heats up my smallish room really quick. I really love it, couldn't want anything better.

"Perfect!" 2010-06-05
By amazon
This heater really could not be better. It is compact, so takes up little space and can easily be moved around. Despite its size, it heats up a room in a matter of minutes. It even allows you to set the temperature you'd like the room. It has noticeably reduced my heating bill as I can often solely rely on it to heat my home. The remote is also very handy. I highly recommend this heater.

"Lasco Ceramic Space Heater" 2010-09-17

The cost was very competitive and the transaction went smoothly.
I am now a happy (and warm) camper.

"Perfect" 2010-09-08
By Nima P.
I bought this space heater for my office at work because it's FREEZING in there, even when it's 80 degrees outside.

It does the job well and before I know it, the room is nice in toasty.

I do warn you that when I'm nice and toasty, I do not get very much work done and tend to want a nap...but for the item at hand...job well done!
It's small, portable, with a decently long cord, and very light weight.

"So far, so good." 2010-09-05
By R
I have been using this heater under my desk at work for approximately 1-5 hours per day, maybe 3 days a week, for 2 months. So far I've been happy with it. It's quiet enough for the work environment, it produces plenty of heat under my desk on my feet, and keeps them quite warm. No complaints so far. Price was good.

"Hot Stuff" 2010-08-14

This heater replaced one I had been using for years. In a short time it gets the bathroom so hot I have to turn it off. Couldn't ask for more. Really does a good job & does it quickly.

"I love it so much I'm ordering another one!" 2010-08-04
By sara
My office building is SO cold. I was wearing winter clothing in the middle of summer, so I ordered this heater. It is perfect for placing under my desk. Finally, I can wear summer clothing again. It only takes a few minutes on the lowest setting to warm my office. I'm not sure how well it will work in the winter, but I feel confident it will be perfect. It is extremely quite and releases no "warm plastic" odor like other heaters I have used. I would highly recommend this heater for any small area that is too cold for comfort. Several co-workers have since ordered one too. We all love it.
