Banish the chills this winter with the energy-efficient Safe Heat Oil-Filled Radiator from industry leader, DeLonghi. Solo, the quiet radiator serves as an alternative heat source in small and medium rooms. The 110-volt radiator also complements a central heating system, bringing warmth to high-use areas while the main system runs on low for more cost-effective heating. The radiator construction features rustproof metal for even heat distribution and resilience with pure diathermic oil completely sealed inside. Heat radiates through several vertical thermal tunnels while keeping the hot elements enclosed and out of the reach of fingers and other body parts and objects. Three power settings allow flexibility for diverse rooms and personal heating needs. For energy efficiency, the heater runs low at 600 watts or medium at 900 watts to slowly spread warmth. On high at 1500 watts, the radiator brings full heat to the room with extra speed. Users direct the room's temperature for comfort with an adjustable thermostat. With a 24-hour programmable timer, the heater offers 96 options in terms of temperature, wattage, duration, and activation time. An antifreeze function engages should the indoor temperature fall below 44 degrees F, while the heater also automatically shuts off upon knock-over or overheating. Four wheels enable easy transportation from one room to another. The power cord wraps around for storage. DeLonghi advises against placing the radiator too close to power outlet, outdoors, or near flammables. Avoid running the power line under carpets. Thorough safety guidelines and assembly instructions are included. The radiator weighs 23 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica ReulingSimilar Products

This was a very good purchase in regard both [a] to the product itself (it works well in the way that the published description says it should work) and [b] in the delivery process -- right on time on the day promised.

All in all, I'm very happy with this item.
Pros:
Very consistent heat (not a lot of ups and downs)
Heat seems to rise more out of the top then out of the sides. My other one just gets hot all around which makes it harder to place in a room and more dangerous for kids.
Cons:
No digital thermostat.

The winter of 09-10 killed the heat pump compressor that heated and cooled my upstairs (two large open rooms). Because of its age, I had to either replace the whole system (air handler, too), or take a chance on replacing just the compressor with hope nothing else major fails. I decided on the latter and bought the Delonghi for auxiliary heat. My plan is to run the repaired heat pump as little as possible in winter and use it primarily for cooling in summer. Since it was the end of winter, the Delonghi didn't get a full workout, but it worked far better than I'd anticipated. I'm still trying to find the best settings, but I think it's going to do the job. I was very concerned about leaving it on 24-7, but after checking the outlet and cord (many times!) for heat buildup, I relaxed and let it do its thing. Since I didn't use it for a full season, I withheld a star. I may need another one to satisfactorily heat the entire space for a full season, but wouldn't hesitate buying the same unit. It's clean, quiet, takes up little space -- and it works.

So far this has been a good unit. I use it to keep my plumbing in my RV from freezing in the winter. I have left my RV unattended with this set to "Anti Freeze" for about a month now and all is well. It hasn't burned the place down yet. We'll see what next season holds.

We have owned many of these heaters over the years, using them in apartments we owned. We did not hesitate to buy another.
However, the one we received is defective and we will begin its return immediately. The very first week we began using it, it started leaking oil. We have never had this in any of the other units we have owned.
We will be returning for an exchange immediately. I am eager to see how smoothly this goes. My first communication will be with my credit card company, advising them of the need to return this purchase.
