I bought a Vornado heater last Fall and have used it in my bathroom, when taking a shower. It heated well for a couple of months and then the on/off switch stopped working. So Ive been pulling the plug and plugging it in when I wanted to use it. This morning I plugged it in and it worked for maybe 4 minutes before it completely died.
This heater must be made with the cheapest parts available.
I do NOT recommend buying it!

First off, the Vornado heater/fan is fantastic. Sensitive but not overactive thermostat, quiet but effective fan, nice safety features. Buy one.
Second, I think I've discovered a weird side effect. Bear with me. This winter, I put this heater/fan in the garage, because of an unusually cold winter. I set it at 42 degrees, and it clicks on occasionally to keep things well above freezing, which I need in my garage. About the same time (I didn't realize the coincidental timing until yesterday), the remote controls for my garage doors ceased operating, except at extremely close range (like 2 inches in front of the garage door). I have two newer Chamberlain garage door openers, rolling code type, and remotes on both doors were affected. Further, remotes on both cars were affected---these facts eliminate normal "weak battery" or "reprogram the remotes" solutions, even though I did that anyway. The garage doors otherwise worked fine.
A garage door tech came out to analyze the problem and was stumped--he, like I, guessed it was some kind of radio interference on the remote control frequency. We couldn't figure out what the frequency interference would be caused by---garage doors don't operate on the common 2.4GHz frequency, for example. Anyhoo, I later had an "AHA" moment---the timing of the problem matches up the me putting the fan in the garage--and I turned off the fan. The garage door remotes now work fine, at extended range.
Does the Vornado fan use radio frequency to determine temperature in the room? I don't know, but I doubt it. Vornado has patented technology that I don't have the inclination to research. They do, however, use thermistor technology (basically, an electrical resistor that measures temperature fluctuations in an electric circuit) but how that intereferes with radio frequencies is beyond me. All this being said, I still love this fan.

You definately can't go wrong with this heater. I think it's more cost efficient than a centralized heater when you want to keep a room or small area warm. Unlike other heaters, it runs continuously keeping the temperature at a certain level throughout the room or area. It never gets hot to the touch, so safety isn't much of an issue. It circulates warm air thoughout the room so efficiently that the position of the heater is arbitrary. You can point the fan at the wall and still heat the entire room efficiently.

Best heater for a 12' x 12' room. The dogs can't get burned because the outside of the heater does not get hot and it shuts off if knocked over. Like the thermostat a lot. You can keep the room at a comfortable temperature without hot and cold spots. This heater is everthing it claims to be.
Thank you Vornado for your quality products.

I bought this a couple of years ago to carry from room to room in our leaky 1908 house in Oregon. It does everything it claims to do: heats the room evenly, quickly and has great settings for automatic temp control. We even moved it into the chicken coop when the new chicks were trying to stay warm and it managed to keep an uninsulated building several degrees above the outside temp. Still, the one complaint I have is that the heater fan never turns off. Instead, it constantly 'sniffs' the air with a low circulation setting. I assume it is gauging the temp of the room so it can click back to full force to re-heat the room. In this way it keeps the room even, but I do find the constant sound of the circulation fan to be a bit distracting. Note that I work alone in a home office, so am sensitive to low level noise.
